APRIL 21, 2023

Earth Day.jpg

Monmouth, NJ. –  Mrs USA Earth Ann Pennington and her son Crawford are excited to announce the release of their new recyclable tote bag, just in time for Earth Day 2023.  Made from recycled plastic water bottles, these unique tote bags are reusable and 100% recyclable--making it an eco-friendly and easy-to-carry alternative to traditional shopping bags, and the perfect accessory for anyone who wants to make a difference while on the go.  The tote bags will feature artwork from individuals across the country.  In order to obtain the artwork, Ann and Crawford have launched an art contest--open to all.  Submissions should be nature-themed and highlight the natural beauty around us and what nature means personally.  Along with being printed on the bags, winning submissions will be featured on Mrs USA Earth's social media accounts.

This venture, in partnership with Monmouth Conservation Foundation, aims to encourage others to take small steps within their daily lives that collectively, can make a positive global impact.  Mrs USA Earth will also donate 100 bags to Monmouth Conservation Foundation in an effort to help the organization raise funds and increase awareness of the importance of environmental preservation.

Earth Day, which falls on April 22nd every year, is a time to celebrate the planet we call home, and a reminder to take action to protect and preserve it.  Ann's home state of New Jersey was among the first states to ban plastic bag use.  Environmental studies have proven that single-use plastic bags are a major contributor to pollution and this one small change has already begun to make a positive impact on the ecosystems of our planet.  Ann knows that small changes can collectively make a big difference.  She and her son hope that this new tote bag encourages others to join the fight against plastic pollution and ignite a larger global change.

About Ann Pennington

Ann launched her business in New York City and created Eye For Style and Runway for a Cause combining her love of fashion with the goals of sustainability, repurposing, and giving back to the community.  Repurposing and recycling are critical to our futures and it has been important to Ann to include her son Crawford in the initiatives.  She sits on the boards of both Covenant House and HABcore and leverages her fashion events and designer friends to help the teams raise millions of dollars for the homeless.

Representing the state of New Jersey in January 2023, Ann was crowned Mrs USA Earth™ 2023 in Orlando, FL.  As part of her official titleholder duties, she now also serves as the chief ambassador of ICONIC USA -- a federally recognized 501(c)3 nonprofit and the official philanthropic initiative of the Mrs USA Earth™ organization.  Ann's national runway attire was handmade out of scraps of used photography background paper.  She is on a mission to help people understand the impact of Fast Fashion and embrace sustainable and repurposed fashion.
